For such a small village there is an amazing amount of things to do, and they are all within easy reach from your Bridge Street Cottage.

There is a good reason Bigfork has become a premier destination in the Northwest. Our village offers some of the finest dining, shopping and gallery hopping you will find anywhere. Plus, there is our nationally recognized Summer Playhouse that stages performances six nights a week. We are on Flathead Lake, the largest, natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. There are more rivers and streams than we can count and just about as many golf courses. Glacier National Park, with an abundance of wilderness and wildlife, is a short drive away. Not to mention the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area, Jewel Basin, the Flathead National Forest and Bigfork's very own Nature Trail that begins right on the edge of town and winds along the Wild Mile of the Swan River - a short walk from our cottages.

Whether you want to golf, boat, fish, hike, kayak, swim, shop, dine, enjoy art and theatre, or simply rest, relax and rejuvenate, Bridge Street Cottages puts you exactly where you will want to be.

ANNUAL EVENTS

Bigfork also has a year-round calendar of events that guarantees that whenever you come for a visit there will be something special happening. Some highlights include:

River Bend Concert Series: All summer long in Sliter Park (just across the old steel bridge on the other side of the river from Bridge Street Cottages) there are Sunday evening musical performances by local, regional and national musicians. The line-up changes every year but always includes a wonderful blend of jazz, folk, big band and a variety of other musical styles.

BACC Openings: In addition to all of the other galleries in town, we also have the Bigfork Art and Cultural Center that hosts "openings" throughout the year featuring the work of artists in a variety of media.

Taste of Bigfork: In April all the restaurants and eateries in the area come together to offer a dining tour of Bigfork. Everything from French Provincial and Northern Italian to fresh fish and game dishes are featured. You and your taste buds will be amazed by the variety of impressive dishes available in our little village.

Whitewater Weekend: At the end of May or beginning of June each year, kayakers from all over the country come to compete on the Wild Mile of the Swan River that runs just above and behind town. Events on our "Class 5" rapids include down river races, slalom courses and whitewater rodeo and stunt competitions.

Bird Festival: In June, birders from all over the country flock to Bigfork to see the wide variety of species that inhabit our valley, and attend the field trips, seminars and keynote addresses put on by the Audubon Society during our annual Bird Festival.

Garden Tour: Certainly the wilds of Mother Nature are what make this area of northwest Montana so spectacular, but not far behind is the beauty created by the devoted gardeners throughout our valley. In July, some of the finest and most impressive of these private gardens can be viewed during the annual Garden Tour.

Wild Mile Corridor Wildflower and Bird Walks: On Tuesdays all summer long, the Flathead Audubon and Montana Native Plant Society leads a free flower and bird identification walk along the Natural Trail just outside of downtown Bigfork.

Festival of the Arts: The first weekend of August is festival weekend every year when the streets of Bigfork host hundreds of artists, artisans, craftsmen and musicians in a juried display of their works. Quite possibly our most popular event of the year, the festival draws people from all over the country.

Street Dance: In September one of the three streets in downtown Bigfork is roped off and the whole town turns out for a bit of music, dancing and plain old end of summer reverie.

Ravenwood Outdoor Learning CenterRavenwood: Bigfork's Ravenwood Outdoor Learning Center was selected as the Montana Environmental Education Association's "Business of the Year" in 2009 and specializes in getting kids and families outside for safe, hands-on, learning adventures with the guidance of our expert naturalist mentors. www.ravenwoodolc.org
